Catching up with Miss Berit

Hippie Baby

And Not So Happy Hippie Baby

During the worst of the colic, things could deteriorate very quickly!  It was rare to get a peaceful, awake photo of the Bear.  The beautiful tie dye is from auntie Rachael and the pants I knit before labor started.

Berit celebrated Halloween with her very first play date at Leo's house.  She actually had a lot of fun once we arrived, despite crying on the drive over.  I think all of the "big kid" activity was so mesmerizing she was speechless for a change.  It is hard to believe that she will ever be big enough to run around and decorate cupcakes but I did realize that the crying jags are temporary and that we are both learning how to be.

All the screaming led to an umbilical hernia, which should correct itself on its own in time, but still worries her parents.  In addition, the Bear's kicking means she has extra strong legs.  Here she is showing off how well she can stand -- at six weeks!

During one particularly bad run of fussiness, I got stuck slouched in the recliner for hours.  I had to document it for dad and for all of us when the urge for baby two strikes...

And then the smiles started to arrive...and what a change in our spirits that brought on!
